In the Trees
04:36
|
|||
We saw the fire and the water there before us
Stretched out our hands, stretched out our hands to choose
Out in the garden,
playing hide and seek in the trees
Yes, we played hide and seek
among the trees in the garden.
We played hide and seek
among the trees in the garden.
Will you find us in the trees
and what will you say ?
Will you give us clothes to wear
And what will we do ?
We saw that there was life and there was death
And Whichever we will choose will be given
Out in the garden …
We stood on top of the mountain
Looking down at the earth below
And all the little people running around
Still in the garden,
playing hide and seek in the trees
Yes we’re playing hide and seek
among the trees in the garden.
We chose fire, and we chose death
and where will we go ?
On the outside looking in
How will we live ?
Do not forget us
Do not leave us all alone

Black Dog
04:23

A good friend of mine
was great to have around
but lately we have found
he had another side
The little pills
supposed to make him better
just became a fetter
He couldn’t let ‘em go
He was a lovable man and he tried
We let him know that we were on his side
The old black dog
had backed him in a corner
buzzing like a hornet
wouldn’t let him go
He tried to fight it
Be normal like his friends
Not having to pretend
But it’s a long way back
He was a desperate man and we tried
but in the end there was nowhere to hide
He locked his car
sat smoking in the shade
he had overstayed
now it’s time to go
The old black dog
that had backed him in a corner
buzzing like a hornet
wouldn’t let him go
A Good friend of mine
Is nowhere to be found
I have’t seen him round
for a while

Mustangs and Cowboys
03:42

This is the story of Willy McGuiness
It starts as he says his goodbyes
At age twenty four, with his pack and his horse
he rode out to discover the wide, blue, skies
he’s young and he’s eager
to go it alone
mustangs and cowboys
are destined to roam
Will had always been good with the horses
he dreamed of a travelling show
At age twenty seven, his idea of heaven was to
end up the star of the rodeo
With life on the road
There’s no guarantee
mustangs and cowboys
they love to run free
Bill wasn’t thinking of turning to drinking
but somehow it turned out that way
The years have passed by now it’s whisky and rye
And he’s waiting for something to change, one of these days
The memories come back
of the good times when he was a child,
mustangs and cowboys
were born to be wild
His father and mother, and sister and brother
for so long wondering when
After so many years being stuck with their fears
that they’d never - see Billy again
It makes no difference
how far you roam
Mustangs and cowboys
they / we always come home

Johnny's Song
03:50
|
|||
Every time, I hear her name,
I feel her shame she knows.
She lived a lie, said he’d died
A widow’s life she chose
And now she lives for him
That’s how it is for the suffering
She holds her head up high
Still has her pride
To save the life of her little child
She hides her pain inside
She lost the light that was in her eyes
And paid the sacrifice
And now she lives for him
That’s how it is for the suffering
She holds her head up high
Still has her pride
Break
Johnny’s grown and married now
They’ve a litte child of their own
And all the while, his mother smiles
She knows she’s home
And now she lives for him
Redemption’s come for the suffering
She holds her head up high
She is alive

More Grace
04:48
|

Hear the story of a life of love
Written clear on every line
Drawing strength from up above
To see her through hard times
She was born in a shotgun house
Three rooms in a dead straight line
Built on just a half a city lot they're doing fine
See the children in their Sunday best
Smiling, standing all in a line
She's at the front in her new blue dress
With her sister just behind
Sixteen and she knows it all
Finds it hard to toe the line
Got ambition to be top girl she's gonna shine
I've got a feeling there's more grace still to come
Whatever's done before is past and gone
She's listening to her baby cry
Hoping he's the last in line
Patience is in short supply
Looking after number nine
Now her children, they're all grown
There will be grandkids down the line
She spends her time on the telephone, they're on her mind
I've a feeling there's a lot more grace to come
There's enough to cover everyone
The Doctors listened to her heart
They summed her up in a few short lines
Quickly scribbled on a patient chart, she never saw the signs
There's more grace, still more grace
Much more grace to come
You will find them at the edge of town
Standing there in a dead straight line
Waiting in the summer sun with roses all around
But I've a feeling there's more grace still to come
Whatever's done before is past and gone
Yes I've a feeling there's more grace still to come
More than enough to cover everyone
There's more grace, still more grace
Much more grace to come
